The customer's problem
Homeowners had lived with wall heaters and window ACs for 20 years — top floor was always 10°F hotter than the ground floor in summer, and space-heater winters. They wanted whole-home heat + AC without demolishing plaster to run ductwork.
The Cabrillo solution
Installed an 8-zone Mitsubishi MXZ multi-split with one exterior condenser (mounted on the light well) feeding eight indoor heads — six wall-mount slim-line units in bedrooms and living spaces, plus two ceiling cassettes in the ground-floor open plan. Line sets ran through a decommissioned dumbwaiter chase, so the only wall opening required was 3 inches per head.
