An EV charger needs a dedicated 240V circuit, and the question is whether your panel has the capacity and a spare slot for it. Many older SF homes are near their limit, so 'EV-ready' planning means checking your panel's amperage and load now, and — if you're already doing electrical work — sizing a panel upgrade or adding capacity so a charger is a quick add later. Planning ahead also lets you place the circuit where you actually park, which is often the biggest cost driver in flats and hillside lots.
